Director of Accounting

We are seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Accounting Director to lead the financial operations of our medical device customer in the Southeast. This role is responsible for overseeing accounting functions, financial reporting, compliance, and internal controls to support the company’s financial health and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in manufacturing accounting, GAAP compliance, and financial planning within the medical device industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all accounting functions, including general ledger, financial reporting, and internal controls.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, FDA regulations, and healthcare industry financial standards.
  • Lead the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Manage budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to support strategic decision-making.
  • Coordinate audits and tax compliance with external auditors and regulatory agencies.
  • Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to improve efficiency and compliance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, operations, and R&D, to align financial strategy with business goals.
  • Optimize cost accounting and inventory management specific to medical device manufacturing.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or MBA preferred).
  • 5+ years of accounting leadership experience, preferably in the medical device or healthcare industry.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, cost accounting, and financial compliance regulations.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment with inventory and cost accounting.
  • Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and financial reporting tools.
