Director of Lean & Continuous Improvement

The role acts as a Lean Director to multiple sites or value streams and interacts with site teams, operations and technology leaders, at all levels, to help drive overall factory productivity. The Director role uses corporate continuous improvement programs, through the facilitation of Value Stream mapping, A3 Thinking, Six Sigma, Rapid Improvement Events and Managing for Daily Improvement to transfer knowledge of Lean and other continuous improvement methodologies to the organization.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and deployment of continuous improvement systems and tools to drive factory cost productivity.
  • Work with site leaders, operational and technical leadership to identify specific and impactful projects which will improve factory productivity. Projects can achieve factory de-bottlenecking, improvement of process quality and the reduction of waste, deployment of state-of-the-art equipment, improvement of basic manufacturing scheduling and materials requirement planning, and execution of other global manufacturing strategies
  • Work with site and functions to build internal capability to utilize continuous improvement tools to deliver results.
  • Increase total company revenues by driving debottlenecking efforts in factories and by providing VBS process expertise to the New Product Development Teams.
  • Utilize projects, RIEs and “just do-its”, increase productivity across all elements (materials, fixed factory and SAG cost leverage, and factory cost take-out
  • Participate in the development of the enterprise productivity plan across multiple plant locations

    Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in operations, technical or business discipline.
  • 5-10 years of leadership experience in integrated supply chain, manufacturing, quality or process improvement roles
  • 5+ years experience in Toyota Production System, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar operating system.
  • Experience in leading lean transformations and large scale Kaizen activities in manufacturing setting
  • Travel requirements 50%
