Director of Supply Chain

Reporting to the Vice President of Operations, the Director of Supply Chain will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive production plans, optimizing production schedules, and ensuring efficient utilization of resources to meet customer demand while maximizing operational efficiency and profitability.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Production Planning Strategy:
    • Develop and implement strategic production planning initiatives aligned with business objectives, customer demand forecasts, and inventory targets.
    • Establish production planning policies, procedures, and best practices to streamline operations and drive continuous improvement.
  2. Demand Forecasting and Capacity Planning:
    • Collaborate with sales, marketing, and product development teams to forecast customer demand and anticipate production requirements.
    • Conduct capacity planning assessments to ensure production capabilities align with demand forecasts and optimize resource utilization.
  3. Production Scheduling and Optimization:
    • Develop production schedules that balance customer delivery requirements, production capacity, and inventory levels to minimize lead times and maximize efficiency.
    • Optimize production schedules through effective resource allocation, sequencing of production orders, and coordination of workflow across manufacturing facilities.
  4. Inventory Management:
    • Monitor inventory levels and work in progress (WIP) to ensure adequate stock levels while minimizing excess inventory and carrying costs.
    • Implement inventory control measures and replenishment strategies to optimize inventory turnover and meet customer delivery commitments.
  5. Cross-functional Collaboration:
    • Collaborate closely with procurement, logistics, and supply chain teams to coordinate material procurement, inbound logistics, and production scheduling.
    • Partner with quality assurance and maintenance teams to ensure production processes meet quality standards and equipment reliability targets.
  6. Performance Monitoring and Analysis:
    • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to production planning, including on-time delivery, production efficiency, and inventory turnover.
    • Analyze production data and performance metrics to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement, implementing corrective actions as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Proven track record of success in production planning leadership roles, with a minimum of [8] years of experience in manufacturing or related industries.
  • Strong understanding of production planning principles, methodologies, and systems, with expertise in demand forecasting, capacity planning, and inventory management.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and execute production planning strategies to support business objectives and drive operational excellence.
